International Students
The many flags hanging from the rafters of Founders Dining Hall proudly celebrate the many countries around the world from where our students hail. We have welcomed students from Bahamas, Bosnia, United Kingdom, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Honduras, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, and Vietnam.
Orme is an international school that prepares its students for a global future; one in which diversity is common and celebrated. If you are coming to Orme from another country and you are still learning the English language, our environment and support offer you the tools you need to greatly strengthen your English proficiency. At Orme, you will receive exceptional individualized attention and lots of TOEFL prep work. You will have a chance to try new things as a part of The Orme School while being supported by our caring community.
To be admitted to our ESL Program, all applicants must submit test scores from either:
- the Junior TOEFL or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language),
- the iTEP SLATE, (International Test of English Proficiency),
- the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test), or
- the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam).
Orme ESL teachers assess each student’s test scores, the results of a placement test given during Orientation, an informal interview, and a writing sample. After assessment, students are placed in the Intermediate, or Advanced ESL program. For more information on Orme’s ESL program click here.
