The bright sunset is luminously red, the Jupiter kind of red, as if sand dunes from the Grand Canyon have been brought on by the desert wind. tling life in the city where people just haste to pick up their bags and leave. The Orme community has its own sky, in which we illuminate each other and shine. Orme shed light on the athletic and STEM parts of me. Humbly 5 3 feet tall, barely knowing any volleyball rules, I never thought I could find passion on court and become the region representative athlete in my first season. And certainly, the idea of pursuing a STEM major seldomly dawned on a Vietnamese girl who used to be so intimidated by the concept that boys are bet-ter at math. But the nurturing and inclusive environment this community offers is beyond my expectationsthey pull me out of my shell and show me what I can do.So who are they? Who made Orme such an amazing place to learn, grow, and treasure my high school memo-ries? A history teacher who would stand on the bench and become the cheerleader for your volleyball match. A dorm mother who would knock on your door every night just to give you a warm hug and put chocolate on your pillow on Valentine. A chef who cooks your hometowns traditional dish monthly and always asks how to improve. An Ethiopian friend who excitedly picks up your language, guides you through your homework, and gives the best college advice ever. At Orme, I feel free to express any thoughts, feelings, struggles, because eventually, there are individuals willing to lend you an ear. As an international student, do I get homesick? Maybe I do when I leave Orme.22'
