Faculty member Sylvia Strobel’s General Chemistry students spent two weeks researching and studying Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and the pesticide Roundup (Glyphosate). They studied links between the two, and the possible health and environmental hazards that may be associated with both.
The students’ research culminated with a poster presentation, as well as letters from the class to Head of School Bruce Sanborn. The posters and letter recommendations (which contained a variety of conflicting perspectives) regarding the use of GMOs and Roundup here on the Orme campus, demonstrated critical thinking at its best. Students did a wonderful and thorough job in their research and final presentation.
