Orme Mathletes are having a great fall season

December 9, 2019 Update to this Article. Orme Mathletes returned from their December 7th competition at Mission Heights Preparatory High School in Casa Grande with many trophies in hand. The group won 1st Place in the overall school sweepstakes, and now has 14 members qualifying for the State competition. In addition, Orme Mathletes took 1st Place in each grade category (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th) with 2nd Place in grades 9 and 11, and 3rd Place in grades 10 and 12.

The Orme Mathletes Team, coached by faculty member Alex deBeus, has competed several times this fall, and have been very successful in those Math League competitions. Their first competition was at Centennial High School in Peoria with seven other schools. Dat won 2nd Place in the 11th Grade Division, and Rachel 2nd Place in the 9th Grade Division. In addition, Rena and Selena qualified for the State Championships.

In their second competition this fall, team members once again did quite well:

Ngoc – 1st Place 12th Grade Division
Quan – 2nd Place, 12th Grade Division
Peter – 2nd Place, 11th Grade Division
Rachel – 3rd Place, 9th Grade Division

Overall, The Orme School won 2nd Place in that second meet, with five new Orme qualifiers for State (Ngoc, Quan, Peter, Nguyen and Mia). Orme now has NINE Mathletes who have qualified to move on to the State Championships.

The Orme Mathletes Team will compete next on December 7 at Mission Heights Preparatory High School in Casa Grande. Good luck Warriors!
