The Orme School welcomes six new faculty/staff members to our team. These new individuals, as well as our returning faculty and staff, are busily preparing and planning for the start of a great 2015-2016 academic year. Please meet our new team members below.
Joshua Bloom – English
Josh served in the Peace Corp following college, and has taught English and Russian since returning to the U.S. in 2002. He holds a BA in English Literature from Swarthmore College, and an MA in Russian Area Studies from Indiana University. Josh most recently taught at Noble Street Charter High School. His other interests include Drama, Music and Outdoor Education. A candidate of The Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College in Vermont, Josh will be teaching English, coaching cross country, and working with students on dramatic productions this year at Orme.
Kaci Tuchscherer – Director of Horsemanship
Kaci is the sister of new Orme Ranch Manager Enoch Malouff. She came on board at the end of May, in order to lead our Horsemanship Program during the summer. Kaci has just recently worked as a Veterinary Technician at Southwest Large Animal PC in New Mexico, but she grew up in the area and attended Up Top events since she was a child. Kaci holds an AA in Applied Science in Culinary Arts from Scottsdale Community College, and a BS in Agriculture Technology Management from the University of Arizona. Kaci also has participated in Rodeo Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping. She was the 2004 and 2006 Grand Canyon Region Champion in Breakaway Roping. Kaci, her husband, and their daughter will be living on campus.
Holly Killinger – Director of Health Services
Holly is from Prescott Valley, so she is very familiar with The Orme School. Holly holds an AS in Nursing from Yavapai College. She recently worked as the Director of Nursing for Nurses Network Inc. She possesses excellent assessment skills, is proficient in all wound care, and skilled in medication management. Holly has also worked at Kachina Point Health Care Center, Verde Valley Medical Center, and the United States Navy where she received a Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal. Holly officially started her duties in Orme’s Burns Health Center in April, and lives on campus with her two daughters, McKenzie and Emma, and husband, Joe.
Sylvia Strobel – Science
Sylvia is from Victor, New York where she taught at Finger Lakes Community College. She holds an AAS in Natural Resource Conservation from Finger Lakes Community College (with Honors – PHI THETA KAPPA, FLCC Alumni Scholarship and Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship; a BS in Science in Biology Education from Nazareth College of Rochester (receiving Honors from the NY State Challenger Scholarship for future science teachers); and an MS in Education from the University of Rochester. Her hobbies and interests include kayaking, horseback riding and hiking. Sylvia is the mother of Orme Assistant Director of Advancement and Admissions, Jessica Calmes, and the proud grandmother of Peyton and Colton.
Rene Lemieux – Mathematics
Rene holds a BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has teaching experience at both eastern and western boarding schools (Brewster Academy, NH; Williston Northampton High School, MA; Squaw Valley, CA; and Fountain Valley, CO). In addition to having taught a wide range of upper level math courses, he has coached a variety of sports, specializing in soccer.
Gregory Lobe – Admissions Associate
Greg is a recent graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Having attended a private high school himself, Greg is eager to assist the Orme Advancement Team in its admissions outreach. Fluent in Portuguese, and having done an internship at the European Society of Radiology in Vienna, Austria, Greg will be spending a lot of time on the road, getting the good news out about The Orme School.
