Josh Bloom’s AP Art History class has been studying the art and architecture of South and Southeast Asia. This led to a fun field trip to Sedona, Arizona to visit the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, which was built in 2004.
This was an opportunity for the class to experience one of these fascinating artifacts in person. Stupas have been built since 2600 years ago, and are one of the oldest forms of sacred architecture on earth. The group was struck by the sense of peace and calm that grew as they got nearer to the stupa. Students said that alone made this academic outing and hike well worthwhile.
