On December 12, 2014, Orme Senior Chau Bui received very exciting news. She was accepted to the Cornell University Engineering program. Chau has studied at Orme for two years, joining us as a Junior international student from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Passionate about math since she was a small child, Chau told us: “Math has a system of formulae and notations which never need to be translated into another language for people from different places and cultures to understand. Mathematics range across a huge spectrum of topics and connect me to other subjects. The world is a great building with different branches of human knowledge as individual blocks. Mathematics is the glue that that bonds the blocks together.”

In addition to her love of math, Chau is a talented musician. Her most recent performance was last week at the Candlelight Service on campus when she serenaded our community with holiday favorites “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Silent Night.” We are proud of Chau’s accomplishment and anxiously await her future successes.
