Today, April 22nd, is Earth Day, and the School’s students, faculty and staff commemorated it with a tree planting ceremony. Just before lunch, the entire community gathered on the path in front of Stirrup Dot Dorm, and two Hawthorn trees were planted by students in our Environmental & Plant Science classes. Director of Sustainability, Casey Jones, told everyone the origins of Earth Day, and the many reasons why planting trees is important to our planet. This year’s Earth Day theme is ‘Trees for the Earth.’
The event was also covered by Phoenix Fox News while one of their reporters and cameramen were visiting campus to learn more about Orme’s Sustainability Program and initiatives. The piece will air on Channel 10 sometime in May.
