College Advising and Commencement All of Ormes graduates are fully prepared for college because of Ormes commitment to Excellence Tradition and Character for each student. Preparation for college is an ongoing process in which parents students teachers the academic office and the college advising office all work together. The formal college counseling process begins in October when eighth and ninth grade students take the Explore test and sophomores and juniors the PSATNMSQT. These tests measure academic progress and highlight career goals. In the spring juniors take the SAT and the ACT and are encouraged to take SAT II Subject Tests as well. There are also opportunities for retaking the SAT and ACT in the fall of their senior year. College and university information is accessible to all students throughout the year in the college counseling office. Our college counselor works individually with students at all stages of the college application process. In October all Orme seniors and juniors are invited to attend the Greater Phoenix College Fair where students have the opportunity to speak with more than 100 college admissions officers and gather information about a wide variety of colleges and universities from around the country. In the spring semester of junior year students are scheduled into college guidance once a week as they begin their college search. This schedule continues into their senior year until all application materials are submitted to the colleges they have selected. The product of this school is young men and women who are growing spirits to whom the school gives its inspiration and guidance for even greater development throughout their lives. Charles H.
